The Sinch Stores Your Ear Buds Through Elastic and Magnets

0

Storing your ear buds can be a hassle if you are not using your smartphone or media player. You can unplug it and tie it around, but untying it wastes precious time. The solution? It’s easy as a Sinch!
The Sinch is a thin, rectangular piece of rubber that features a small hole and several magnets. Simply slip the plug end through the hole, plug the buds into the audio jack of the media device, and let the elastic dangle at the backside of the device. If you are done with your audio tripping, you can wrap the cord of the ear buds around the device and the rubber band. Then, fold the elastic around the ear buds so that the two magnets line up and keep the cord secured until your next use.
The Sinch is available through its online store for only $16.

Asus WAVI Xtion Comes in October

0

It looks like Asus is channeling some Kinect with its WAVI Xtion motion controller, which is expected to be marketed by October this year. This device was created in partnership with PrimeSense, the same company that partnered with Microsoft to develop Kinect, which is why the similarities and capabilities between the two are uncanny.

According to Asus, the WAVI Xtion would bring the “fun and function” of the Kinect to the PC. The company even hopes that the device would take desktop PCs to a whole new level of interactivity, just like what the Kinect did to the Xbox 360.

This is not the first time Asus looked to the gaming industry for inspiration. It launched the Eee Stick several years after the Wii, targetting buyers of its popular Eee netbooks. The Eee Stick functions like Nintendo’s Wii Remotes for netbooks, but consumers apparently were not buying it.

Digitimes reports that the Asus WAVI Xtion would be priced between $250 and $300, which is more expensive than Kinect’s $150 price tag. The device will reportedly be available first in China, where the Xbox 360 is banned. The exact release date, meanwhile, remains unclear.

Blu Cigs Smart Pack E-Cigarette Goes “Social”

0

Making every new device “social” seems to be the newest trend, even on electronic cigarettes like the Blu Cigs Smart Pack. This newest offering from Blu Cigs comes with a homing device that finds nearby e-cigarette smokers, as well as Blu Cigs retail stores, within a 50-foot radius.

Putting a social aspect on a simple electronics cigarette may sound ridiculous, but there are some good use to it. Smoking, apart from making bad things to your throat and lungs, is a social activity. Total strangers who smoke can simply start a conversation by asking for a light and sharing cigarettes. In the case of e-cigs, it is a different thing. Traditional cigarette smokers may find e-cigarettes–and the people who use them–absurd, making the e-smokers the wallflower in a banter of smokers. Enabling to find a fellow e-smoker could be great for those who want other people to share their activity.

This new electronic cigarette also has enhanced battery life, a “Convenient Cartomizer” that controls nicotine strength and flavor, and an “Instant Inventory” feature, which lets users predetermine settings that automatically order new cartridges when supply is low.

Report: Nintendo to Revamp 3D and Add Another Analog Stick

3

Despite its promising features, not to mention the hype it got when it was first launched, the Nintendo 3DS is not selling well. The higher-ups are allegedly not too pleased about it, which is why reports begin to circulate that Nintendo may bring out a new hardware revision of the 3DS that downplays its 3D powers.

According to French gaming site 01.net, Nintendo is having a hard time convincing customers that the 3D display is safe to use. The company has already stated that children under 6 should not use the handheld console with the 3D turned on. That statement definitely turned off the very young market.

Speaking of hardware updates, the company is also considering adding a piece of hardware in the Nintendo 3DS that they failed to foresee during its development: A second analog stick. Nintendo engineers, as well as a group of hand-picked developers, are said to be working on creating an inexpensive analog stick add-on that they hope would improve gameplay.

If these reports turn out to be true, expect a barrage of irate early buyers, as well as those who bought the Nintendo 3DS at the discounted price.

Samsung Fights to Lift Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ban in Europe

1

Samsung representatives all over the world have been dealing with Apple’s preliminary injunctions that would prohibit the sales of Galaxy Tab 10.1. The device is supposedly launched in Australia, claiming it is a different model, but backed out the last minute. The American launch, meanwhile, still hangs in the balance.

In Germany, Samsung is determined to fight it out as the company will go to court in Dusseldorf to appeal the court’s decision to ban sales of the GalTab 10.1 across the European Union (except in the Netherlands).

TechCrunch says that if these preliminary import bans become permanent, it would change the tablet wars dramatically. It would not only affect the GalTab (considered as the iPad’s strongest competitor) and potentially other future tablets, but Apple’s reputation as well.

“I whole-heartedly believe that Apple has every right to defend its trade dress,” Jordan Crook writes on TechCrunch. “At the same time, Apple tends to overreach. Once the complaints start moving into the software arean, things get really blurry… (with Apple ending up) looking entitled and desperate to preemptively squash competition.”

But at the end of the day, Crook adds, it is the consumers who will hurt the most.

Grooveshark Appears on Boxee

1

Among various cloud-based music streaming services, Grooveshark is one of the most underrated. But now, the browser-based Grooveshark now appears on Boxee and it looks pretty different. Not only does the appearance of the Boxee version appears different from its online counterpart, but its subscription costs more at $9 monthly after a free trial. This is compared to the $6 monthly fee online, but users there can opt for a free, ad-riddled version. It is unclear whether subscribers of the online version would have to shell out extra for the sake of enjoying their music on Boxee.

The Boxee version of Grooveshark does not feature the iTunes-style interface, making way for a orangey version of Rdio. It also has tabs that choose between user-selected music, playlists, and popular music. Boxee users can still create and sort playlists with ease.

Google+ Unveils Games to Limited Users

0

As expected, Google+ is taking another step in its quest to become the dominant and most relevant social networking site as it introduced Google+ Games to a limited number of users.

We all know that gaming is an important factor in Facebook’s popularity. It even has become a springboard of a game apps provider (Zynga) to become a major player in the social gaming industry. And as Zynga is about to take off as a public company, guess where it plans to provide games? You are right, on Google+, considering that Google has made an investment in Zynga.

But before you get excited about playing FamVille and CityVille on Google+, note that those two games will unlikely appear over there due to some form of exclusivity. At least G+ will have Zynga Poker, even new titles as well. Other games will also join in Google+ Games such as Angry Birds and Bejeweled Blitz.

To check if your G+ account has games in it, look for the Games button at the top of your stream, right beside the Circles button. It features the latest game updates from your circles, browse invites you have received, and look for games that people you know have played. It is also in the Games page where your game accomplishments appear, so you can post your high score and share it only to people who play games as well. These invites and accomplishments will not appear in the Stream, which has been a source of annoyance in Facebook.

0

Rumors about the so-called “Windows Phone Tango,” which serves as an in-betweener for Mango and “Apollo” (Windows Phone 8), have been circulating lately. According to Mary-Jo Foley of ZDNet, her sources claim the Tango would most likely appear in lower-priced handsets–mostly by Nokia–and apparently target the Asian market “largely or even exclusively.”

Foley, meanwhile, believes that Tango will most likely be a minor release, as Microsoft saves its effort and energy for Windows Phone 8, which is said will be available by late 2012.

It is like Facebook, but solely focuses on messaging your contacts.

But why a separate, stand-alone messaging app? Apparently, Facebook Messenger promises to be speedier and simpler compared to the Messages product found in current Facebook apps.

While the app uses your Facebook connections to find people. If the person you are trying to reach does not use Facebook, or if you are not connected, you can use a phone number to estabish a connection.
