Motorola Defy+ Comes Out as Waterproof

10

While today’s smartphones look shiny and very functional, they are at the mercy of something that covers three-quarters of our planet: Water.

Motorola’s upcoming Defy+ handset assures users that this is a type of phone that you can bring beside the pool or along the beach. It has IP67 certification, which means the device is built for toughness without looking too bulky. This waterproofed smartphone can be submerged underwater for 10 minutes, thus making it virtually invincible against normal liquid-related annoyances like rain and wine spills.

Apart from its waterproof build, the Motorola Defy+ features Gorilla Glass touch screen, a 1GHz TI OMAP 3620 CPU, Android 2.3.4 with MotoBlur UI, and a 1700mAh battery. The rest of the specs is similar to the original Motorola Defy.

Nothing is yet confirmed regarding availability on specific carriers, although Motorola plans on launching the Defy+ in Asia, Latin America, and Europe by fall.
